KNEC announces training for 2024 KCSE examiners, here are the qualifications

Teachers who are already trained and listed in the KNEC database of examiners do not need to reapply.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced training dates for examiners involved in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.

In a notice released on Tuesday, the council revealed that the training will take place from August 18 to August 24, 2024.

"The venue for training will be communicated to the qualified applicants later, and the exercise will be strictly residential," reads the notice in part.

The examiners will be trained on the following papers: English (Papers one, two, and three), Chemistry, Christian Religious Education, German, and Music.

Application status 

As highlighted by KNEC, shortlisted applicants will be notified via SMS and the portal with instructions on how to pay the mandatory training fee of Sh10,500.

KNEC further clarified that the selection of examiners will be based on specific criteria aligned with the personnel needs for each paper.

"KNEC will thereafter engage such examiners using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper," reads the notice in part.

Applicants are encouraged to await further communication from KNEC regarding their application status and training logistics.

Qualifications

Interested candidates must be practising teachers in the relevant subject area at the secondary school level.

He or She must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and have a diploma in education and above.

Applicants should have a minimum teaching experience of three years and not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action from the TSC.

In addition, applicants must be recommended by his/her head of institution and be 50 years of age and below.

How to Apply 

Applicants have been advised to access the KNEC examiners' portal for application.

"Those with Cp2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords," reads the notice.

"Upon successful login, complete your personal profile and save. On the dashboard, click on Apply for Training, and all the declared vacancies will be available for the applicants to choose," reads the notice further

KNEC added that the training slots are limited and once the required numbers are attained, the online application portal will close down.

KCSE exams are set to start on November 4, 2024, and end on November 22, 2024.
